Hello November????
It’s National Healthy Skin Month!
Having healthy skin is not just a matter of aesthetics, it simply evidence of overall heath & wellness.
Skin is the body’s largest organ; naturally, when our skin looks & feels good, so do we as a whole.
Eating a balanced & nutritious diet is just part of the equation to treat the skin from the inside out. The other essential necessity of maintaining healthy skin is appropriately caring for your skin from the outside-in.

Tip 1. Load up on fruits & vegetables throughout the day. The rule of thumb is, the more colorful your raw foods, the greater the variety of antioxidants. Antioxidants help keep the cells in your body healthy. They scavenge out cell-damaging free radicals, & neutralize them. This promotes a healthier body, increased immunity & balanced skin.
Tip 2. Drink 6-8 oz of water on average per hour. Watch the color of your urine to determine if you are well hydrated, it should be a faint yellow color. H2O hydrates skin from within and helps keep skin glowing.
Tip 3. Limit dairy if your are breakout prone. Milk products are inflammation triggering that can be a culprit to acne.
Tip 4. Avoid refined sugar when you can. Refined sugar foods are also inflammation causing which means possibility of breakouts.
Refined sugars are also a huge threat to collagen fibers which can accelerate premature aging.
Tip 5. Wear sun protection aka SPF, everyday, even on gloomy days, even when indoors. UV rays pass through the clouds & through your windows. SPF is your first line of defense against UV damage, one of the most significant causes of skin cancer and premature skin aging.
Tip 6. Never go to bed with makeup on. First of all, its a missed opportunity in the evening to cleanse & nourish your skin. Secondly, makeup left on overnight penetrates deeper & causes clogged pores that lead to congestion & breakouts. Lastly, leaving makeup on overnight inhibits or gets in the way of the skin properly renewing & regenerating itself nightly as it should away from all of the environmental interference.
Tip 7. Exfoliate your skin 1-2 times a week to enhance cell turnover. Dead skin cells have a tendency of building up over time. By exfoliating routinely, you help keep your skin looking baby soft & fresh fresh. It increases penetration & efficacy from the rest of your skin care products. Exfoliating also helps breakup & soften congestion in the pores.
Congestion is made up of dead skin cells combined with sweat & oil that sits in the pores; when its exposed to the air, it oxidizes & turns into blackheads.
Tip 8. Have a skin routine in place that at minimum consists of 3 steps, cleansing, toning & moisturizing your skin. This is the absolute basic that it necessary to keep your skin clean, pH balanced, comfortable & age-maintained. Let us know if you need help with creating your skin routine. Tip 9. Make sure to have a sleep schedule that aligns with what your body needs. Lack of sleep is actually a health risk, it can cause a slow down in the body’s blood & lymph flow which in turn decreases the amount of nourishment & oxygen that is carried throughout the body & into the skin. Lack of sleep can cause breakouts, a tired eye appearance, skin dullness & a pale unhealthy appearance.
Tip 10. Massage your skin regularly. Massage forces movement of the tissue, blood & lymph. Massage increases blood circulation, moves stagnant lymph, pushes out the toxins that can be sitting in the skin, it exercises skin tissue & facial muscles & enhances cell oxygenation. In a nutshell, facial massage fuels life into your skin.
